Roxy Music: Roxy Music (half-speed master) LP

Roxy Music's self-titled 1972 debut, one of two with Brian Eno still in the fold, exemplified the band's penchant for glamour, both in the lyrics and with the album cover of model Kari-Ann Muller, kick-starting a tradition of iconic album covers featuring female models. Debut single "Virginia Plain" is a smoky affair and the attendant album a moody and memorable summary of their act circa 1972 when they hit TV screens and theaters like aliens from another planet. "The album is really kind of a tracer as to where we could go," explained Bryan Ferry. "There are lots of different directions there, and deliberately so, because we never really did want to have one recognisable sound. Being elusive is one of the things we quite like, and being as varied as possible." This 180g vinyl LP reissue is mastered at half-speed and cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. It also features revised artwork with a gloss laminated finish.
