Raconteurs: Consolers Of the Lonely LP

Recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, this sophomore LP from The Raconteurs was surprise released in March 2008 to widespread acclaim and would go on to win the 2009 Grammy award for Best Engineered album, non-classical. Consolers of the Lonely takes its title from an inscription on the frieze of a Washington D.C. post office and finds the Raconteurs at their mightiest, exploring what it means to be a rock band in the classic sense with full-on bombastic horn arrangements, gut-wrenching murder ballads, and riffs and licks for days. It all adds up to form one of the pre-eminent releases of the aughts and a high-point example of modern day rock and roll.
