Different Class is the fifth album by Pulp and their commercial breakthrough. The inspiration for the title came from a friend of charismatic frontman Jarvis Cocker who used the phrase "different class" to describe something that was "in a class of its own." Cocker liked the double meaning, with its allusions to the British social class system, a theme running through many of the songs on the album. The record explores sex and class with Cocker's biting, witty lyrics taking a perfect snapshot of mid-90s English suburban and working class life. The 12-track effort shot to No. 1 on the UK album charts in 1995 at the height of Britpop with the classic track "Common People" reaching No. 2 on the UK singles chart and "Disco 2000" No. 7. A stone cold Britpop classic and Mercury Music Prize winner reissued here on vinyl LP!
