Lifecycles, Ritual, Myth is the second full-length album from Edmonton's Golden Sun Trio, following 2023's Topography on Edmonton's Berberophone label. It is the band's first release on vinyl and their first with the label Honey Farm. It is a sweeping camera shot of canola gold prairie grasslands, gently sloped oil-painting skylines caught in golden halflight. It’s a fine breeze weaving through the tall grass, the shade of a wispy cloud, a couple drops of rain and the sensitive insectoid buzz that hums all throughout soft hills. It’s to be encircled and immersed in, like the cordial embrace of temperate water, or the undisturbed calm of teahouse quietude. The organic progress of naturalistic atmosphere, the steady evolution of an earthly-type energy that can only be seized in real time. Like echoes of folklore, it is of the land; wrung to life and brought to flow or trickle, but always to advance at its undetermined and still meditative pace.
