Wasted Cathedral: Dolce LP

The World is ending, but very slowly. Somewhere in the distance, a casino has been abandoned. The wizzardzz are nodding. And something has eaten the cannibals. 

Wasted Cathedral is the solo work of Chris Laramee, known for his work with Runway and Shooting Guns and DOLCE is a wonderful, minimalist trip into the far reaches of the analogue imagination. No real beats. No rush. No need to get anywhere in particular. Just sounds slowly circling themselves into existence. Warm, drifting tones. Minimal loops. The kind of music that begins in the corner of the room and, after a while, you realise the entire room has quietly disappeared.

Imagine the peak of a mushroom trip. That beautiful moment when the world stops being the world and becomes something else entirely. You're walking across an alien landscape, completely overwhelmed by the sheer wonder of it all. The sky is enormous. The ground is unfamiliar. Everything is alive, but nothing is asking you to do anything. That is the territory of DOLCE.

This is analogue sound in its most patient form. Not so much composed as allowed to unfold. Loops drift in and out of focus, repeating just enough to become hypnotic, then shifting slightly before you can get comfortable. A sound becomes a horizon. A pause becomes a doorway. A little shimmer in the distance becomes the entire sky.

The titles suggest a world of strange happenings beyond the edge of the visible. A deserted casino somewhere in the Nevada desert. Wizards nodding in agreement with the moon. Something has eaten the cannibals. And through it all, the analogue machinery keeps turning.

DOLCE is not music that demands your attention. It simply creates a space in which attention can dissolve. Put it on at the end of the day. Put it on when the outside world has become too loud. Put it on when you need to leave the known coordinates behind for a while. The music doesn't rush you. It doesn't need to.
