Temple Gong: Distanz (White Vinyl) LP

A great funky set from the mighty JJ Whitefield – the man who's maybe given us more heavy grooves than anyone else in the past 20 years – thanks to his effortless ability to shift between projects, and always work with some very cool collaborators! This time around, Whitefield is paired with Johannes Schleiermacher – and the two have a sound here that's way more than the sum of their parts – a full, rich batch of instrumental funk that almost takes on cinematic proportions at times – especially when all sorts of cool production effects come into play! Titles include "Mudbugs", "Temple Gongs", "Nimbus Dance", "Icy Haze", "Solar Plexus", "Quasar (part 1)", "Zen Drive", and "Sly Not Going Under".
