Little Milton: We're Gonna Make It (Chess 75) LP

Little Milton brought the emotional depth of the blues and modern sound of soul together with remarkable power on his 1965 album, We’re Gonna Make It. After joining Chess Records through its Checker imprint in the early ‘60s, the Mississippi-born guitarist and singer-songwriter revitalized the label with a new sound. The title track, an anthem for the growing civil rights movement, topped the R&B chart for 3 weeks straight. The album showcases Milton’s vocal control and expert phrasing which defined his crossover success. Highlights include, “Who’s Cheating Who?” “Blind Man,” and “Stand By Me.”
