Jesus Lizard: Head LP
Availability: | Out of stock |
The Jesus Lizard’s full-length debut announced the arrival of a band whose uncompromised approach, visceral tension, and scathing commentary would redefine the American underground. With the addition of drummer Mac McNeilly, the group’s initial EP featured a drum machine, the Chicago-based quartet completed its evolution from a hardcore/industrial-inspired act into a distinctive band whose mix of metallic textures, rumbling grooves, vice-grip tension, and muscular rhythms can be heard for the first time on Head. And the landmark 1990 release has never sounded better.
Part of Touch & Go’s stellar Jesus Lizard reissue campaign, Head has been meticulously remastered from the original tapes by Bob Weston (Mission of Burma, Shellac) and original engineer Steve Albini. The new pressing presents Head in a sonic light that exceeds even the best expectations. There’s greater space between instruments, heightened dynamics, a more solidified mid-range, extended imaging, deeper soundstage, and an incredible boost in energy. Benefitting from Albini’s dry, no-frills production, indie-rock has seldom sounded so dangerous, physical, or malevolent.
Vinyl packaged in deluxe gatefold album jacket with 12” x 24” double sided color insert including never before seen photos, and extensive liner notes by the band and by journalists who were there when it was all happening.
