Galaxis, a band with roots in Duisburg, Germany, emerged in 1971 as a powerful heavy rock band. As a collective of friends comprised of Wolfgang Chilla on vocals, Claus de Crau on guitar, Wolfgang Richter on bass, Edgar Geffroy on drums, Holger Kampmann as roadie, and Ewald Phillips as manager/sound technician, Galaxis was a formidable force in their regional music scene.
Their journey was punctuated by the recording of their (now very rare) 7" single in the spring of 1974, featuring the tracks "Someone Needs Your Love" and "True Experience." the band's music was heavily influenced by the likes of Uriah Heap, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple, and their sound was a testament to the hard rock spirit of the era.
At the heart of the Duisburg music scene, Galaxis found themselves sharing stages with renowned acts such as Eloy, Scorpions, and UFO. Their open-air concert with UFO and a subsequent tour in Majorca left lasting memories for the fans and band members alike.
Though they are again united today as friends, the band's initial run came to an end in early 1975. Their privately released 7" single was limited to 500 copies, most of which quickly found buyers. The records were primarily sold at their concerts and through a local record shop called "Die Schallplatte."
As we rediscover this great band, we invite music lovers of all generations to appreciate the ultra heavy rock music of Galaxis, and celebrate their legacy with this retrospective LP release.
