Barth: Like Cavemen Do LP
Availability: | Out of stock |
In tomorrow.... Nicely moody work from Barth – aka Barthelemy Corbelet, a French artist who recorded the set in Paris and Rouen, but sings in English, with this laidback style that has lots of London echoes in the mix! The tunes have a slightly quirky vibe – kind of Donovan into the sound of UK indie underground of the Glass Records generation in the 80s – and instrumentation includes baritone guitar, cello, and a bit of Hammond – all used in light ways, and swirled up with a good sense of echo that's used on Barth's vocals! There's almost a Sean O'Hagan or Louis Phillipe charm to the set – a reworking of classic modes to some very individual space – on tunes that include "Sticky Fly", "Baby Carry On", "Naked Street", "In The Yard", "Like In A Movie When Something's Wrong", and "The Ferry"
