Area 3: View CS

If you've been following Khotin's Area 3 releases, 'View' has been a long time coming. The prolific Alberta-based artist debuted the project in 2020 with a cultishly popular self-titled cassette, following it up a year later with 'Amb'. Now, four years later, he returns to the project on 'View', capturing the sound of vintage West Coast new age visually as well as sonically. Saturated synth sounds are layered over watery environmental recordings and slippery, acidic leads snake through bathhouse chimes and strangled, off-grid beats. It's strangely hypnotic gear, one for fans of Florian T M Zeisig and Jordan Juras' NUG project.
